Overall the bag is very good, but these few gripes are my reasoning behind 4/5 stars. Probably should have communicated that a bit better before sending out review units. Attachment points on the back of the bag are nil, and the duckfoot is way to small to be of any serious use.įinally, although this is not on the bag itself, but YT reviewers recieved units that included ELASTO gear locks, while our production bags did not. The velcro padding on the inside is also pretty useless, as the will not hold much weight and are positioned so that anything you attach will ride fairly high on the bag. The Skitch 12 is Padded TSA-friendly compartment fits tablets and laptops, Adjustable shoulder strap with shoulder pad and stabilizer strap. You'll basically be using Vanquest or Maxpedition organizers, with molle sticks, all of which are quite expensive. The molle attachments on the inside of the main compartment thread horizontally, meaning you will have a hard time using inexpensive molle pouches for organization. There are a few issues with the bag though, mostly with the internals. at a time, and it was always a comfortable experience. I ran around China for two weeks with this carrying between 20 and 40 lbs. The shoulder straps, load lifting system, and internal frame make it extremely easy to carry. Overall, great attention to detail, a lot of function, great day pack if you're not taking anything bulky. I clipped a small nite-ize carabiner to the zipper so I could hang my hat or gloves from it. The zippers are great too, no snags, easy to pull, and I love the zippers with security lock holes. The material is very sturdy, this is not a lightweight back for its size. Fully unzipping gives you tons of access if you're able to lay it flat though. I like the idea of the main pouch's zippers being limited from fully opening by the 2 snaps on the Hypalon side webbing, but they're just a bit too limiting to pull loose items out at time (had trouble getting a mirrorless DSLR with a small lens in and out). The pack is good at carry small items, but larger gear like a fleece jacket starts to reach the capacity limit. What I love most about the Katara 16 is its compact size and plenty of pockets. So, with all this in mind, I embarked on my quest. The CCW hook and loop opening is very secure and I never felt like my compact pistol in a hook and loop holster would ever come loose. 12 24 48 I asked my fiancé the same question in regards to her ever revolving starting line-up of purses, and seemingly every purse she has is loaded down with junk, and she answered simply that she was fucked. I also have used a hydration bladder with the pack, and the tube routes through with no complaints like it should. I've got a HYDRA water bottle holder attached to the side webbing, and it works well. The extra weight added for the versatility really isn't bad and comes in handy. And while the sling function was fine, for me I would rather have this as a backpack only, but I see that there's plenty of other people who would rather have it as a sling bag only. I only used once in the sling configuration when taking as a personal item on a flight so I could sling this and carry a duffle on my back. I'm 5'10" and about 155lbs, and the fit is great, no pain points or rubbing/chafing anywhere. I have been using my Katara 16 for two months now as a travel pack, day hiking, and hunting bag.
